There I said it. Our fearless boss Sonny let it be known to the world this week that he does not like Patrick Reed. Some agree, some disagree, some think because he cheats (allegedly) or because his entire family hates him he should be disowned by the golf community at large. Well to those people I say this, “take your pants off and go change your stinky poop-filled diapers and if you cannot do it yourself have your mommy (or daddy) do it for you”.
Patrick Reed is a green jacket wearin’, don’t give a shit what you’re thinkin’, livin’ under par, lone-wolf bad ass who intimidates you and that’s why you speak ill of him. You think he cares that he travels alone and eats alone and practices alone and goes to movies alone? Nope. Not one bit. He cares about winning golf tournaments and that’s it. The guy isn’t going to let the haters or even a small mound of sand in front of his ball stand in his way. He’s out for blood. He’s going low, period. There’s a reason his nickname is “Captain America” (according to Wikipedia)
You know whose nickname isn’t Captain America? Tiger Woods (more on him in a bit), Justin Thomas, Dustin Johnson, Rickie Fowler, Bryson DeChambeau, Matt Kuchar, Xander Schauffele, Webb Simpson, Tony Finau or Gary Woodland. You know why? Because they are too worried about the public’s perception of them while Patrick Reed is ripping the heads off of any European he can find. All in the name of America.
I like golf’s bad boy Patrick Reed and I’m not afraid to say it. You don’t have to be either. Don’t be scared of the golf community at large when they come at you and tell you he’s a dirtbag because they read online somewhere that an old college teammate told a reporter who wrote an article that maybe he cheated. Don’t be afraid to back a world class champion when the yuppie brigade cries out that he’s been arrested and therefore he’s not worthy of being accepted in golf.
You might get ridiculed and/or bullied for liking golf’s bad boy Patrick Reed by golf’s elitists but at least you’re not an insufferable hypocrite like them…because you know who else got arrested, was caught cheating and whose family members hate him?
