Nick Taylor: Who’s That?

So Nick Taylor just won the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. I didn’t know who he was either. So here he is in a nutshell.

Nick Taylor is a 31 year old Canadian. As an amateur he made it to the quarterfinals of the US Am and won the Canadian Amateur Championship in 2007. In 2009 he was the low amateur at the U.S. Open. Today was just his second win on tour after turning professional al the way back in 2010.  His other win was the Sanderson Farms Championship (huh?) in 2014. So it’s not crazy that you haven’t heard of him.

Now while it’s nice to beat a guy like Phil Mickelson straight up on a Sunday to win a tournament, it’s still the worst tournament of the year. You just can’t let a Pro-Am count toward anything. It’s crazy to me. Guys who aren’t tour players playing in the final group on a Sunday in a tournament that matters? Outrageous. Pro-Ams are cool but isn’t that what Wednesday’s are for? Let’s keep it that way.

So congrats to Nick Taylor. Good win my man. That one gets you into this years Masters, The Players and PGA Championship. Sucks it was a Pro-Am because it shouldn’t count but it does so a good win nonetheless.
