First off I’ll start by saying this. The only person I’d rather have atop the World Golf Rankings is Tiger Woods. And since Tiger will be there soon O guess it begs the question. Was Rory waiting for Tiger to be good again? Does Rory need the fire that is BDE brings to the game to take it seriously again? Well it’s possible but the probable answer in short is...No.
Coincidentally Rory happened to start a mini comeback of his own last year. Not from tough times or bad breaks or injury. But from a few years of sub-par putting. People were ready for this comeback last year. And we started to see it. Four wins in 2019 including The Players Championship. So it’s no surprise to see him on top today.
But why? He’s always been one of the best ball strikers on tour. And can we talk about that balance? No one does it like him. The picture perfect finish is his specialty. His body uncoils and poses in ways my body can’t even comprehend. But the putter. The confidence on the greens. It’s been missing. But dare I say it’s all coming together now?
Here’s what’s different. He’s been working with Brad Faxon. An eight time PGA Tour winner, and one of the best putters of all time. He’s all about confidence and no fear putting. Never thinking about the next one in hopes there will never be one. And Rory hasn’t been putting scared. The stroke’s been holding up. His minds in the right place. He’s walking with that sexy ass Rory Strut. And he’s ready for some wins. You can just see it.
Idk about you guys but I’m fucking FIRED UP for Augusta this year. I really think this is gonna be one to remember. A sweet swinging Tiger, Rory on his A game, and adding in guys like Brooks and JT etc. Man oh man am I excited for golf in 2020. So congrats to Rory. I’m pumped for him. One of my favorite guys out there. He loves the game and so do we.
And maybe he was waiting for Tiger. Who knows. Maybe Tiger being relevant again made him want to work that much harder. Whatever it was I love that he’s on top. ALMOST as much as I’d love it if the goat was there. Almost.
